  ΑΘΗΝΑ The Acropolis slopes have been excavated many times yet they still conceal much about ancient Athens. The terrain upon which you will tour reveals complex histories spanning the Neolithic to Late Bronze / Late Helladic Periods, through the Geometric to the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman / Late Roman and Byzantine Periods. Byzantine Athens preceded two centuries of Frankish occupation and almost 400 years under Ottoman rule. When prospective guests ask us if an 8 hour Athens archaeology tour will overwhelm, we remind them about the 8,000 years we have to fit in to 8 hours! Expect a deeper than in depth exploration of all the archaeology on and close to the slopes of the Acropolis. Highlights such as the beautifully restored Stoa of Attalos, Temple of Hephaestus, Hadrians Library, and the majestic Temple of Olympeion Zeus will simply whet your appetite for more. It is for this very reason that we advise guests to take our Full Day or Half Day Athens Archaeology Tour before paying a visit to our archaeology museums (Acropolis and National Archaeological).
